Dr. Shvidler and his team took excellent care of me, highly recommend. I’d had trouble breathing for decades, finally was referred to Dr. Shvidler for a septoplasty. He is a very skilled surgeon and also a kind person. I am happy with the result and am feeling much better.
I had a mixed experience with The Seattle Facial Plastic Surgery Center and ultimately was disappointed with the outcome. My initial consultation with Dr. Shvidler for a deviated septum went well. I explained my ongoing breathing issues and that I had a septoplasty procedure performed once previously; he recommended a septo-rhinoplasty and explained that it had a better chance of correcting my septum to fix my breathing problems. He also told me the procedure should be considered medically necessary and that insurance coverage would not be an expected issue. He even mentioned that if insurance denied coverage at first, his office would submit an appeal. I left that appointment feeling confident and optimistic. After his office submitted the request, my insurance denied coverage. When I called the office and asked if they could submit an appeal, I was told they did not think it would be successful and that they would not move forward with one. I ended up submitting the appeal myself and it was approved. That experience really changed how I felt about the practice. When insurance initially denied coverage, there was absolutely no effort on their part to appeal, and it gave me the impression that my care was only a priority as long as payment for the surgery was certain. However, I still went ahead with the surgery after approval. The procedure itself went fine. After a full year of recovery, I've experienced mixed results where I had some aesthetic improvement, however my septum was no less deviated than before and my breathing issues did not significantly improve. At my one year follow up, Dr. Shvidler told me there was nothing more he could do for me. I have since gotten a second opinion from another doctor and have had far better care and better results. I am writing this review years after my surgery so I could give a fair and unbiased perspective. While I think this practice may be fine for some people with aesthetic needs, based on my experience, I would not recommend them for functional improvement.
WOW!!! I am so impressed with everyone here. I had consults with three different surgeons in Seattle and went with Dr. Shvidler and his team. I especially appreciated that Dr. Shvidler was willing to tell me which issues would be best addressed with plastic surgery and which were ones that he did not see as issues. My recovery was seamless, the care team was extremely responsive, and the whole operating staff was personable. Big fan!!
OK so, I've waited a whole year to leave a review.. and I have mixed feelings about my experience at SFPS. I got a rhinoplasty for cosmetic reasons and while I do like my nose better, I'm a little confused about something that happened that has left me feeling not great. My initial consultation was good, I was seen in a timely manner and when I saw the photos of the projected results I absolutely knew I wanted to move forward. The issue that happened was that the morning of the surgery when the Dr was inspecting my nose, I recall him saying that my "tip looks good." I didnt think much of it at the time because I was nervous as hell. The surgery itself was quick, healing was quick without a lot of pain and not as big of a deal as I thought it would be. The first couple months I loved the result, but as time went on I discovered that despite tip work being done in the projection image, no tip work was done in the actual surgery. I found that to be very misleading.. as now my nose feels a little disproportionate.. I question if he even looked at my projection images before the surgery? Things seemed rushed and I wish I would have advocated for myself more, but alas at the time I didnt know any better.. I just assumed what they showed me in the photos would be what they were going to attempt to do in real life. I understand that results cant be guaranteed, but there's a difference between showing someone a projection image of work being done on the tip.. and then not doing that work on the tip day of because it "looks good." The lesson here is to know what you want and be sure to advocate for yourself.. because they do see so many patients and things can fall through the cracks. Is my nose a constant bothersome thought in my brain now? No, that went away and for that I am grateful! Do I wish my results were better? for sure!! I feel like with a little more care we could have worked together to get closer to the result that was in that photo.
Dr Shvidler and staff are so incredibly kind and caring. They were up front and transparent about the procedure and recovery process. My recovery was fast and easy Highly recommend!!!
