I would rate my experience a 2 or 3. While the initial interaction felt personable, it quickly became a detached, transactional exchange focused solely on surgery. I overlooked several red flags due to limited time with my health insurance and an upcoming move. The surgeon appeared limited in knowledge of gender-affirming top surgery techniques, based on both phrasing and approach. Language used felt dismissive and out of step with queer-affirming care. I was also uncomfortable with the passive judgment directed at my body, as well as a nurse who did not recall our initial meeting. In such a vulnerable setting, the experience felt more like scrutiny than care. What ultimately salvaged my experience were the hospital staff. From start to finish, they asked for my pronouns, treated me with respect, and made me feel genuinely safe. As this was my first surgery, I am deeply grateful for their warmth and attentiveness. They even called twice afterward to check on me, which made a meaningful difference. While Iteld is calculated and precise in his work (I am grateful for my result), the overall support felt conditional—grounded in conventional norms rather than an informed, affirming understanding of queer patients or genuine concern for the well-being of the patient.

From beginning to end my experience with Dr. Iteld and staff was amazing. I am thrilled with my results and the care that was taken to acknowledge me for who I am. I couldn’t imagine better people to place your faith in for the outcome you’re looking for. If you are looking for top surgery you will be wholly satisfied. I can’t say enough good things and I was never encouraged to leave a review until my last appointment. I only wish I had more things to go back for!
